The Mirror - Self? Can You Hear Me?

We listen to everyone around us but often ignore our inner voice. The inner voice exists in all of us; some are more in tune with it.

It is straightforward to get wrapped up in the day-to-day and lose sight of the big picture. The "WHY" and the "Why are we here daily?" Everyone we come in contact with has an opinion about OUR life. Most humans that cross our path are innately good, but some of the more tortured souls judge… You are not good enough. You are not pretty enough. You are not smart enough. You are not skinny enough. You are not rich enough. We are told these things by strangers and people we know. We hear these lies through verbal and nonverbal clues. We perceive and pick up on these cues. The body language of each "being" we share space with becomes imprinted on our hearts, and we take on that baggage to carry with us. The frightening thing is that we are most susceptible at a young age when our caregivers highly influence us. If we are not loved, it is hard for us to love. We cannot know what happiness feels like if we cannot feel joy. If we are not embraced for our own uniqueness, we tend to hide our colors and cast judgment on others. Just think if, in a safe space, you did not feel love, acceptance, respect, and warmth from your caregivers.

Often days, weeks, months, years, decades later, we are interested in unraveling these lies we have absorbed as truths. When we decide to show up for ourselves, it is then and only then that we truly start the path to authenticity. The silent voice in our head has always been there. Three powerful words woven together in a tapestry of self-love and foreverness. The soft whisper, YOU ARE ENOUGH, a voice of our own that we have neglected for some time.

We are resilient creatures and must reach a point where we can hear the message. The message has always been there, but we need to be in a place where we can listen. It may seem easy, but think about the old saying, 'You can take a horse to water, but you can't make it drink.' It's a very similar thought process, as we can be right next to a vital resource that fuels our bodies, but we must be willing to indulge. That takes courage, commitment, self-reflection, and self-love. The power of self-reflection is in our hands, and it's a tool we can use to understand and accept ourselves.

Are you listening to your inner voice?
