The Mirror - Evolve

According to the Oxford Dictionary, evolution is the gradual development of something, especially from a simple form to a more complex form. Many people think about the evolution of the human race evolving from the primitive ancestors or one remembers learning about the necks of a Galapagos tortoise. However, this is not science class, and it is definitively not a post encouraging one to believe we evolved from monkeys - this is not the post for that conversation.

Evolution is debated as essential for a species' progression and advancement. Certain traits or characteristics are passed on from generation to generation and these traits are considered to promote an individual's survival. The theory suggests that those qualities eventually become a genetic factor passed from one generation to another, eventually leading to the advancement of that species. I would like to focus on the evolution of an individual person within an individual lifetime.

One of the beautiful things about life is that we are all imperfect. We are in a constant state of evolution, change, and growth. Someone told me once describing that "I am a work in progress and that is OK". That is a very powerful statement. Think about yourself; you are not perfect, and you are not flawed. You're somewhere in the middle.

A happy median.

A place of contentment.

One would benefit to always be looking for the next opportunity to grow. However, if you were comfortable remaining stagnant for that moment, that is ok, just don't stop moving. Or as Dory states - Just keep swimming! It's just that simple moment in time. James Clear once said in his book Atomic Habits, every day we should want to do 1% better. If we all can do 1% better than what we were yesterday, at the end of each year, we will be 365% times different from what we were at the start. It is an absolutely fantastic concept to think about.  We must be willing to grow, adapt, strive, build, evolve, and change each day. However, we must be comfortable and present mindful solitary alone moments each day or for a full day, week, month, or year. For we are all just a WORK IN process.

Evolution is inevitable, so why not jump on board with the change process? You have probably heard this famous quote about evolution and change: "What a caterpillar calls the end of the world, the master calls a butterfly." We must all believe in the beauty of tomorrow and what that day can bring as we move forward each day in life.

In life's journey, we are each in constant evolution, gradually shaping who we are and who we aim to become. Like the caterpillar, transformation may feel uncertain or even daunting, but it is through these changes that we ultimately find our wings. Every small step, every moment of self-reflection and growth, brings us closer to our fullest potential. So, let us embrace each day as an opportunity to grow, strive for that 1% improvement, and trust in tomorrow's beauty. After all, we are all a work in progress, evolving each moment to become something new and better.
