The Mirror -Breaking these Chains

Introduction to Clyde Smith. - Hi, my name is Clyde Smith; I am 38 and from Sacramento, California. I moved from Pennsylvania in 2019 with my husband. I grew up in a small town named Portage, Pennsylvania, and moved around Western Pennsylvania most of my life until we moved to California. Moved from a community of 2,300 to a city of over 526,000. A little different for sure. I started my life out with the odds stacked against me. My family did not have money, and my home life was a stage set for a lifetime movie that resulted in catastrophe. I remember when I was younger, I would look around and notice the people around me, and I would think to myself, I want a different life compared to what I saw daily. I wanted a better life for myself, and I wanted to break out of the cycle of pain, suffering, poverty, and lack of motivation.

Also, my childhood had events that were not child-friendly, and those events have impacted me for decades. Since the age of 13, I have been tortured by a relentless traumatic past that has had an insidious impact on my overall well-being. I appreciate the individuals who have been able to show up for me in the manner they have been. Family, friends, and loved ones have been understanding and accepting without even knowing the whole story, and I am grateful. I have learned that hurt people hurt people, and I want to break out of this cycle. I want to rise above what I have known to be true and accurate, or at least the mask I find comfort in. I want to tear apart the moments in my life where I have been a victim, and I want to prevail and grow from the wreckage.
Through the power I have cultivated inside of me, I will grow through the unparalleled and relentless battle I face daily. I need to learn to heal through this growth and become stronger. Focus on understanding what has happened to me does not need to define my every breath. Breaking every chain is vital to finding freedom, and this freedom comes from growth.

We all come from different experiences and walks of life, and all of those experiences can either be chains or wings for our future development. Only those who have experienced actually having chains attached to their experiences understand what it’s like to have that type of relationship with ourselves. We get to a point in our lives when we are sick and tired of being held down by those chains. Those chains can no longer be what hold us back from personal growth and development. We must focus on growing from our past experiences and understanding that we are not our past. Each and every day, we can choose a new path forward. We can break through those chains and have resilient health, beauty, and abundance. We can remove the shackles of our past and learn to grow, develop, and be prosperous through every decision we make; we can be all that we want to be and continue to grow and achieve growth. It is, without a doubt, one of the most monumental moments and life-changing pivotal points in history - when one decides to break through those chains, and only through self-growth and preservation, perspiration of hard work and independent evolution can one achieve that and those chains become broken.

Ultimately, my journey is not just about breaking free from the past but embracing the future with strength, resilience, and purpose. Every challenge I have faced has shaped me into the person I am today—a person who refuses to be defined by pain but instead by growth, healing, and the unwavering commitment to building a life filled with love, purpose, and abundance.
We all have the power to rise above our circumstances, break the chains that hold us back, and create a future that is not dictated by our past. Through perseverance, self-discovery, and the support of those who truly see us, we can step into the life we were meant to live—one of freedom, empowerment, and endless possibility. My story is still being written, and I choose to make it one of hope, transformation, and boundless potential.
